The 2020 list of the world's best airlines is out, and this year Air New Zealand is regaining the top spot from Singapore Airlines.


01. Air New Zealand

Air New Zeland Limited is New Zealand's flag carrier airline. The Auckland-based airline operates scheduled passenger flights to 20 domestic and 32 international destinations in 20 countries, mainly around the Pacific Rim and within it. Since 1999 the airline is a member of the Star Alliance.It has a freight services to connect customers to 21 New Zealand destinations and 30 Australian, Pacific Islands, China, Japan, Singapore, North America and the United Kingdom destinations.

03. All Nippon Airways

ANA All Nippon Airways serves Japan's biggest carrier. ANA was established in 1952 and flies to some 80 international routes and more than 110 domestic routes. Since 1999 ANA is a member of Star Alliance. Its ANA Mileage Club, a frequent flyer program, has more than 29 million members. ANA was the production client, and is the Boeing 787's main provider.

04. Qantas Airways

Qantas, in full Qantas Airways Limited, Australian airline, the oldest in the English-speaking world, was founded in 1920 as Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd. (from which it derived the name Qantas). Taxi services and pleasure flights were its first operations. Nevertheless, by the early 21st century, the planned air services were spread throughout Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and New Zealand. Headquarters of the Airline are in Sydney.

The first regular service of Qantas, between Charleville and Cloncurry, began in 1922; other local routes were added in the following years. In 1934 Qantas and Imperial Airways of Britain (later BOAC) formed Qantas Empire Airways Limited to operate the service leg between Australia and England from Brisbane-Singapore. In 1947 the Government of the Australian Empire acquired Qantas and named the flag carrier of Australia. That same year, Qantas started regularly on the "Kangaroo Route" through service to London. Within a decade, it was flying to all continents. This introduced the brand Qantas Airways Limited in 1967.

05. Cathay Pacific Airline

The Cathay Pacific Corporation, headquartered in Hong Kong, operates scheduled passenger and cargo flights to over 200 destinations in Asia, North America, Australia, Europe, and Africa, using a fleet of over 200 aircraft. Cathay Pacific is a founding member of the regional OneWorld alliance and is an associate member of Cathay Dragon.

06. Emirates Airlines

Emirates Airline is one of the world's largest Dubai based (UAE) airlines. It was founded in 1985 by Dubai Emirate's higher leadership with the intention of improving UAE infrastructure. It is a part of the Emirates Group. The company's aircraft has 230 jets. Emirates conducts more than 3,000 flights each week from its Dubai hub through its network of over 140 destinations in more than 70 countries spanning six continents. Every year various new destinations are introduced.

07. Virgin Atlantic Airlines

Virgin Atlantic, with headquarters in London, is one of Britain's major international airlines. Virgin Atlantic operates a network of international services to North America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia from its hubs at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports, using a fleet of Airbus and Boeing wide body aircraft. The airline also provides local flights to cities including Liverpool and Edinburgh in the UK. Virgin Atlantic has shares of Virgin Airlines (20%), Air France-KLM (31%) and Delta Air Lines (49%).

08. EVA Air Airlines

EVA Air was formed in 1989, and is a Star Alliance affiliate. EVA operates a global network that ties Asia and Mainland China to Europe, North America and Oceania and connects over 60 major business and visitor destinations. At Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan EVA operates from its hub.
